Integrationsratswahlen

Am 13. September 2020 finden auch die Integrationsratswahl in Bocholt statt. Der Integrationsrat setzt sich in der Stadtpolitik für die Interessen von Migrantinnen und Migranten ein. Themen sind beispielsweise

  • bessere politische Beteiligung von Migrantinnen und Migranten,
  • interkulturelle Öffnung der Verwaltung, der sozialen Dienste und Schulen,
  • Programme, die Jugendliche unterstützen, den beruflichen Einstieg zu schaffen,
  • Antidiskriminierung und Gleichbehandlung aller Menschen oder
  • Verbesserung der Lebenssituation der Geflüchteten.

Der Integrationsrat setzt sich aus 12 direkt gewählten Migrantenvertreterinnen und –vertretern und 6 Ratsmitgliedern zusammen. Mehr zur Arbeit des Integrationsrates erfahre ich hier.

Darf ich wählen?

Den Integrationsrat darf ich wählen, wenn ich

  • nicht Deutsche*r im Sinne des Grundgesetzes bin (Artikel 116),
  • eine ausländische Staatsangehörigkeit besitze,
  • die deutsche Staatsangehörigkeit durch Einbürgerung erhalten habe oder
  • die deutsche Staatsangehörige als Kind ausländischer Eltern durch Geburt im Inland erworben habe.

Außerdem muss ich

  • mindestens 16 Jahre alt sein,
  • mich seit mindestens einem Jahr im Bundesgebiet rechtmäßig aufhalten und
  • seit mindestens 16 Tagen in der Gemeinde meinen Hauptwohnsitz haben.

Elections to the Integration Council

On 13 September 2020, the Integration Council elections will also take place in Bocholt. The Integration Council works in local politics to support the interests of migrants in areas such as:

  • better participation of migrants in politics,
  • raising intercultural awareness in the administration, social services and schools,
  • programs to support young people in making the transition to work,
  • anti-discrimination and equal treatment of all people, or
  • improvement of the overall circumstances of the refugees.

The Integration Council consists of 12 directly elected migrant representatives and 6 council members. You can find out more about the work of the Integration Council here.

Who can vote?

You vote in elections for the Integration Council if

  • you are not German within the meaning of the Basic Law (Article 116),- hold a foreign nationality,
  • have acquired German citizenship through naturalisation, or
  • acquired German nationality as a child born in Germany.of immigrant parents

In addition you must:

  • be at least 16 years old,
  • have been lawfully resident in Germany for at least one year and
  • have had your primary residence in the local area for at least 16 days.
